TRAMA - PLOT


Completamente girato a
Würzburg, nella Baviera, il film ha inizio con due bambine che litigano tra di loro. Sono due sorelle discendenti
dell'antica famiglia dei Wildenbrück, la bionda Ketty e la bruna Evelyn, cui dopo l'ennesima lite il nonno ormai
anziano svela un segreto che coinvolge l'intera stirpe dei Wildenbrück e che è raffigurato in un quadro appeso nel
salone dell'antico Castello dove abitano. Si tratta di una "Oscura Leggenda" che vede rivali in amore proprio due
sorelle loro antenate, precisamente la Dama Rossa e la Dama Nera: la leggenda vuole che ogni cento anni la Cattiva Dama
Rossa torni per vendicarsi delle sette coltellate infertale dalla Dama Nera ed anche per il torto in amore, uccidendo
sette persone tra cui la Dama Nera. Il nonno teme questo perché è proprio tra qualche giorno che dovrebbero
ripetersi gli eventi e portare La Morte ancora una volta nel castello, macchiando la famiglia di un nuovo sanguinoso
delitto. Ed infatti, qualche anno dopo, le due bambine sono cresciute e come vuole la leggenda si innamorano dello
stesso uomo, portando al logorio il loro rapporto, fino a che la bionda Ketty non uccide la sorella Evelyn. E' così
che ha inizio il film, che avrà come tema una sanguinosa ma non casuale scia di sangue e porterà alla morte tutti
quelli che proveranno ad ostacolare questo macabro Rito...

Two sisters, Kitty (Barbara Bouchet) and Evelyn, are cursed by a family painting
depicting a seven year-cycle in which a Red Queen is raised from the dead to kill seven times. After Evelyn seemingly
perishes and multiple killings ensue, their niece Franziska (Marina Malfatti) and Kitty start to suspect that Evelyn may
be the Red Queen.

Red Queen Kills 7 Times (aka La dama rossa uccide sette volte) is a very satisfying giallo.
The narrative revolves around an ancient legend that dictates that every 100 years seven people will die at the hands of
a vengeful fiend. Plenty of suspects and endless red herrings add to the fun. The plot is a bit too complicated –
the narrative does some crazy calisthenics in order to keep the story moving at a frantic pace. Also, the fact that most
of the actresses look alike made it a bit hard to follow the storyline. But those are minor complaints in a
super-entertaining film. The killings are gory, beautiful girls appear in the buff and the puzzle is complex enough to
keep viewers guessing all the way to the finale. Plus the killer has a spooky costume in the league of Michael
Myers’ ‘Bill Shatner’ mask or Jason’s hockey mask. No classic, but if you like whodunits
and/or giallo films you are going to enjoy this Italian production.
